Last weekend, August 20 and 21, was a little complicated. The rain gave no respite in the fourth round of the Trial World Cup which took place in Albertville, but our ProRACE team was able to pull out all the stops to achieve good results.
Manon Basseville began a rather complicated semi-finals day. She struggled in the first section, penalised by 4 points in both rounds. The result was 18 points and a hard-earned 5th position. Then, with the final in full flow, our rider improved her score and went down 3 points, leaving her with 15 and in 5th position again.
Vasek Kolar achieved a practically perfect quarter final. The only and minimal penalty of 2 points in the second section of the first round left him in 2nd place, taking him straight through to the semi-final. Luck did not follow him in the next stage: the third from last section was one of the toughest and he was scored 5 points in each round, leaving him in 9th place.
The young riders Ion Areitio and Lucien Leiser are having a great season. Ion Areitio qualified for the semi-final in 5th place, only penalised by 6 points. In the final, he finished 4th, a step away from the podium. His team-mate Lucien Leiser achieved a place on the podium with 3rd position in both competitions, with a total of 6 and 10 points in the semi-final and final respectively.
For now the overall standing is positive. In Elite 20” Women’s, Manon Basseville is in 6th position with 862 points. With respect to Elite 20” men’s, Vašek Kolář is close to the ranking with 14th position and 560 points; Ion Areitio remains in 10th position with 740 points and Lucien Leiser promises to give us something to talk about with his 3rd position and 1025 points.
Only the final sprint remains and our riders are prepared to give their best in the next and last round, less than a month away in Antwerp, Belgium.
