Hi Alfredo, for those who do not know you, could you give us some highlights of your time in the BMX world?
My time in the BMX world has been something incredible. I started when I was 6 years old, when my father showed me his passion for this sport. Now, 30 years later, I am the oldest active rider in the Peninsula. Nowadays it is my job and I have been able to turn my passion into my career.
Among the competitions I took part of: Worlds Championships, Europeans, European Coups. 11 victories in the Spanish championship, 12 championships in Catalonia. Some international races.
We have just launched our “Racer” models: Deymos and Fobos, and we have to admit your help has been essential for its development. Could you tell us a bit more about your contribution?
We started with the technical department, talking about giving a change of air air to bikes Monty already had. In a few days we realized that we had to create new models. So we started designing, adding components, developing new items… The technical department and I came all time together, we got by very well and we archived a dream.
When we saw the prototype we were brutally amazed. It was even better than we expected!
Trying different versions and prototypes, what are the strengths of Deymos and Fobos?
Firstly, and the most important thing is that they are made at home. An investment that has been made to support BMX.
We developed a frame with high quality geometrics and aesthetics. Afterwards, we worked with the components, so we could offer the best at a very competitive price.
We now have a bike 150/200€ cheaper than other brands, maintaining the quality range, which is just awesome.
What makes them different? For what would you use them?
The difference between Deymos and Fobos: initially were the components, one is better equipped than the other one. The frames are the same and we can use switch components. The real difference is the size. Deymos is 20.5” and Fobos is 21”. We did it to reach the maximum possible public.
Have you used these models to compete? Have you tested them at full performance?
Yes, I have. I have been testing them at full performance and they have responded in the best way possible. We have been in local, state and international races, and we made it to the podium in most of them.
To conclude, for anyone reading this, why do you think they must choose one of these options comparing it to the rest in the market?
I think we must support local businesses. We rely on a company that has invested in something for the national BMX, competitions. If everyone helps, I am sure that in the near future we will have a team where new projects can finally come true.
And of course, for its frame, its components and for its fantastic value for money, which I already mentioned before.
Would you like to add something else?
I would like to thank Monty for trusting me in this project, thank you everybody, family, friends, XL-BMX.com, the kids that I train, they keep me riding and thanks to all the people that made this project visible and possible.
