The Noguera Bike Race took place on April 12 in the Catalan region of Noguera, considered by many the “Catalan Wild West”. It is an MTB marathon of 92km and 2800 metres of ascent which elapses into impressive countryside, pine forests, holm oaks and unpredictable terrain. The rider from Campdevànol completed the race with a total time of 4h 12′ and 6″ and competed with more than 700 high level riders enrolled.
On the other hand, the Empordà BTT Extrem was celebrated the weekend of April 18 and 19 in Girona. The test consisted of 3 stages: two marathons and a time trial.
The first of those took place at the Montgrí mountains, accumulating 1670 of positive elevation and 59 kilometres in distance. On the afternoon of the 18th, there was a time trial of just 5 kilometres. On the 19th, the final stage took place in the mountain range of Les Gavarres, where the participants face 2610 metres of inclines and a total of 89 kilometres. Joan commented that this last stage was very hard due to the intense rain and the participant level.
After prevailing in the Chilean TransAndes last January, it is clear that there is a good harmony between Llordella and the M9.
As always, the Monty team wishes you good luck Joan.
