The Trial World Cup, which will take place in Krakow on May 20 and 21, is already on the horizon for all the riders. Members of the ProRACE team, knowing the importance of the event, are participating in different regional competitions with the aim of reaching peak form for the World Cup.
Once again this weekend, the Basque rider, Ion Areitio, participated in the second championship of Castile and León. With the aim of adding up his hours on the bike and perfecting his preparation for the next international dates, the Monty rider has moved to Segovia to train and take part in the Segotrial trial club opening test.
As is becoming usual, the weather made the route and the race conditions difficult, so a technical Trial with great care and delicacy was crucial. Ion managed to complete a first round with a total of 10 points, with two errors made in the two most difficult stages of the competition. In contrast, things changed in the second round, as he managed to complete it with just one penalty point by unexpectedly rubbing against the protector. Finally with a total of 11 points, he achieved a place on the highest step of the podium.
“Once more the rain and wind affected the race. At the beginning of the race I didn’t feel very comfortable, but in the second round I found a good rhythm and managed to complete a round with only one penalty point. It was a positive weekend, full of training and hours on the bike, which will help me face the upcoming dates. We will see you in Poitiers this weekend in the French Cup!”
This weekend the official Monty rider will participate in the French Cup, which is celebrated in the town of Poitiers, and will then take the plane straight to Poland.
As for Vasek Kolar, he competed on the 7th in the first test of the Czech Republic BikeTrial Championship in Brno. Kolar, who reached the highest step of the podium, made the following statements:
The sections were really interesting and quite technical. The weather was mad… In only a few days we went from rain and cold to 24 degrees in the middle of the competition. Despite everything, the race was perfect as I won with zero points. I have to admit that at the beginning I was a little nervous because the sections weren’t easy and all of the riders were getting very tired. Beside me on the podium were Vojta Kriva and Samuel Hlavaty, second and third respectively. Be careful of these riders as they are pushing very hard!
Next weekend we will have Kolar competing in the National Trial Championship (UCI) for the Czech Republic. Good luck!
