The international Shell Eco-Marathon contest, which took place in London last June 27 to July 4, is a motoring competition for energy efficiency which takes place every year in Europe, whose objective is to build a model which covers the maximum distance with the least fuel consumption.
For the third consecutive year, the Pere Martell Institute in Tarragona launched the race with its team Fem Pinya!!! Eleco Team. Nine professional families from the centre have been in charge of designing and giving life to ELECO, their electric vehicle which competed in the prototype battery electric category, and which was built entirely on the premises. In accordance with our social commitment, Monty wanted to do its bit and provided part of the mechanic components necessary for the construction of the vehicle.
To pass the circuit it was necessary to complete 8 laps in less than 40 minutes. The track was not in the best condition: the uneven ground and the inclines made the going difficult, but until yesterday the Eleco Team fought until the bitter end, modifying the prototype to conserve the electronics in the inclines and counteract the track aversions.
Despite all efforts it was not possible to complete the test, but we are more than proud to have achieved the participation goals, demonstrating the perfect way of working, motivation and team attitude to keep fighting. From Monty we want to applaud the great effort, the enthusiasm put into the project, and encourage that participants to keep improving to triumph in the Shell Eco-Marathon 2017.
